    Description

    1974 Mercury 20hp outboard motor two stroke twin cylinder power head assembly. Looks like c
    ylinder block has casting number 848-5031 as shown in picture and the bottom crankcase cover (where carburetor attaches) has casting number 942-5030. Compression test results are shown in pictures. We started this outboard motor prior to dismantling it. This Mercury outboard motor has serial number 7041131 and was assembled in Canada. On line manuals indicate that the 1974 Canadian assembled 20hp Mercury outboards had serial numbers of 7024648 to 7044782 and the same model assembled in USA for 1974 had serial numbers from 3755885 to 4102789. Since this powerhead is more than 10 years old we suggest to check and change gaskets if required. Compression gauge is not included. To avoid injury, harm or malfunction we always suggest that our parts be installed by a certified outboard motor mechanic.
