    Description

An Inspiration (released in some countries as "Yvonne"), the 1931 Clarence Brown Paris model romantic prostitution melodrama ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer All Talking Picture"; based on the novel 'Sapho' by Alphonse Daudet; about a French streetwalker who finds true love with a handsome young man, but she leaves him because of her past, and then she returns to him, but he learns about her past and leaves her, and that makes him afraid she will kill herself, and he returns to her, but then she leaves him again!) starring Greta Garbo, Robert Montgomery, Lewis Stone, Marjorie Rambeau, and Judith Vosselli. Note that there was a French language version of this movie filmed simultaneously, but with a different cast (with Mary Marquet in the lead role), but that movie was made during the time MGM and Pathe had a co-production deal, and it fell apart at exactly this time, and Pathe sued MGM over this film and won, so it was not released until 1934, three years after it was made.
